My names Kelly and I'm from America. I live in Russia as an expat, and, well, lots of interesting things happen to me. This blog is supposed to be about Pop culture, but really, its me trying to understand what's going on in this world where things our constantly changing and crazy ideas are being let loose. In my mind, the world is Wonderland, and I'm Alice.

Friday Afternoons

Ah, Friday. To normal people it is a day that signifies the beginning of the weekend. During the last class of the day, everyone is so hyper, that the teachers barely even bother teaching. So like I said, once the bell rings on Friday afternoon, everyone starts discussing their plans to hang out, go shopping and watch a bunch if movies. To people like me and my friend Katya, it signifies the beginning of another 2 and a half hour cross country session. Yes, we are runners, and yes we do it out of choice. Most people are like "running is so boring", but our reply to them is "soccer is boring". The other day, we were talking and we realized that the reason we love cross country is because we hate it... We love the fact that we hate it. Yeah, we may moan and groan and gag and wheeze and sometimes even collapse after a tough run, but its all worth it when you cross that finish line with everyone cheering for you... We also do it so we can travel to new countries that have awesome food.
So you may think that after cross country we would go home and hang out with friends right? Wrong. We go home and sit on our butts, eating junk food and watching movies all night. The worst part about it? We do it alone. Then we wake up the next morning and go running again! And so the cycle goes on for the rest of the season...
